Hi- my name is Chris Willow- I live in the midwest with my beautiful sons and husband. I am a book buyer at a local bookstore during the day and run a mama-based activism center and my own home business in my spare time.
I started mamaroots in 2003. My first born son was about a year and half and for the first time my creative need that I had always fostered became very focused. My crafting was centered and rooted in being a mother. I have enjoyed making gifts for the childbearing year and toys from the very beginning and have loved evolving into being a toy maker that is continuing a very old style of toy making that has been around for many generations.
I use poplar wood for the majority of my wood toys. Create each and every piece with my own hands in my home. I use all AP certified non-toxic watercolors for the tinting and then seal it with beeswax polish made from local midwest beeswax combined with organic Jojoba oil.
I believe that parents are empowered to make good choices for toys for their children. I do recommend that all my toys be for children older than 3 unless specified.
I hope you enjoy and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
